CYPC has four large hydropower stations (Three Gorges, Gezhouba, Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba) along the trunk stream of the Yangtze River, with the total installed capacity of 45,537 MW, and with the annual power generation capacity of about 190 TWh. By "unified dispatching of four reservoirs (Three Gorges, Gezhouba, Xiluodu and Xiangjiaba)", the benefits of unified dispatching of cascade hydropower stations can be fully realized, which will contribute to the improvement of water energy utilization, production efficiency, reduction of production and operation cost. This will in turn consolidate the leading position of CYPC in the global hydropower industry and lay a solid foundation for the efficient implementation of future development strategies.

Wudongde Hydropower Station (Project of CTG under Construction)

Wudongde Hydropower Station is located at the boundary river section between Yunnan and Sichuan, with it's right bank located in the Luquan County of Kunming and left bank located in the Huidong County of Sichuan. It is the hydropower station of the first cascade among the four cascade hydropower stations (Wudongde Hydropower Station, Baihetan Hydropower Station, Xiluodu Hydropower Station and Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station) in the downstream section of Jinsha River.

The hydro-complex is mainly composed of concrete double curvature arch dam, flood discharge and energy dissipation structures and water diversion and power generation system on the left and right bank. The dam crest elevation of the station is 988m, with maximum dam height of 270m, arc length of centerline of dam crest of 325.67m and normal impoundment level of 975m. The total reservoir capacity of reservoir is 7.408 billion m³, with regulation storage of 3.02 billion m³ and flood control storage of 2.44 billion m³. 6*850MW hydro-turbine generator sets are respectively installed in the underground plants on the left and right bank, with a total installed capacity of 10,200MW. The annual average generating output of the hydropower station is about 38.91 kWh. The flood discharge structures are composed of "5 surface holes of the dam body + 6 middle holes" and 3 non-pressure spillway tunnels with crimp connection on the left bank toward the mountain. The total flood discharge under verified work conditions is about 39,444m³/s. With construction planning started in 2011, the project was formally commenced in December 2015. The first batch of generator sets are scheduled to be put into production in July, 2020 and the project is scheduled to be fully completed in December 2021.
