The company continuously explores hydrological forecast for the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River after impoundment. It promotes the construction of a platform for the sharing of information about the hydrological regimes of the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River and continuously improves the accuracy of the prediction and forecast of hydrological and rain conditions.
Through "coordinated operation of four reservoirs", bringing the benefits of coordinated operation of cascade hydropower stations into full play will be conducive to improving water energy utilization and production efficiency, decreasing production and operating costs, further improving the profitability of CYPC, consolidating the status of CYPC as a leader in the global hydropower industry and laying a solid foundation for the efficient implementation of a series of development strategies in the future.
In 2015, through elaborate timing of the storage and discharge of four cascade reservoirs of the river basin at the end of the flood season, we successfully completed water storage tasks for the reservoirs, with a cumulative additional power generated from water saved at cascade hydropower stations of 9.2 TWh.
The needs for downstream navigation, ecological water replenishment, reduction of sedimentation at the rear of the reservoir, and ecological regulation and tests were taken into consideration.
